Waverly Area Kiwanis Club Sponsors Community Service Project

Members of the Waverly, Portsmouth, Lucasville and Chillicothe Kiwanis clubs attended the Chillicothe Paints baseball game on June 8, 2006.
The Waverly Area Kiwanis Club recently held their first club project. The club, which was chartered on April 1, 2006, sponsored MRDD kids and their families from the Pike County community to attend a Chillicothe Paints baseball game on June 8 at no cost to them.
The Chillicothe Paints Professional Baseball Association, Inc. is a member of the top Single A, Independent League in the country, the Frontier League of Professional Baseball. The Frontier League fields teams in cities throughout Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Missouri. The Chillicothe Paints, the charter member of the Frontier League since 1993, make their home at V.A. Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe. The Paints hosted the River City Rascals, from O'Fallon, Missouri, and won the game 5 to 1.
The Waverly Club organized the outing and sold the tickets. The Portsmouth, Lucasville and Chillicothe Kiwanis Clubs supported the event with member and family participation. This project is recognized within the Kiwanis family of clubs as a Community Service Project.
Way to go, Waverly!
